She needs to get to Oklahoma...Phoenix Montagno can't believe her luck when she runs into the hottie from the bar. He's the key to her getting everything she's always wanted, but she can't tell him that. Luckily he's not interested in learning her story any more than he is in sharing his.
Both have secrets they don't want to share...It's the perfect arrangement. No personal details. No talking at all. Just two strangers sharing the cab of a truck heading the direction they both need to go . . . until they decide to share a bed, too.

  • I totally love this book! This has got to be my favorite series by Ms. Johnson. Sure hope she keeps them coming!

  • It's awful. Don't waste your time. I like this author and i have enjoyed several other books in the series, but this one seems like it was written by someone who has never written before. It has pages and pages of unnecessary description and explanations of what the characters are thinking. Oh my god, boring. Like, the character would do something, and then the next 3 pages would be describing their internal conflict over the decision. Like the author herself didn't even find the behavior believable and felt the need to justify it with pages and pages of internal angst. And to top it off, the scenes that should have been interesting and dynamic, like confessing her big secret to Justin or meeting her biological parents, were brief and anticlimactic. What an absolute let down. I want my $6 back.
  • This story had a lot of potential but I feel like Cat got stuck while writing it. Phoenix and Justin were beyond adorable together, I enjoyed every bit of them together in this book but I feel too much writing was spent on unimportant details or repeating points in the tale the reader would have already been aware of.
A good read but character development was lacking especially in helping Justin overcome his hurdles. I thought Phoenix or at least Justin falling for her would have at least helped him but I was left disappointed in that department.

On an upside, Cat continues to write heroines that continue to be some of my favourite that I've ever read and the end made all the unsatisfying points worth the read.
  • Justin met Phoenix at a bar in Arizona when he went to get his bosses girlfriends furniture. He stopped at a bar where he originally met Phoenix . Then he met up with Phoenix later at Bonnie's house whom Phoenix was looking for. She would not tell him why she was looking for Bonnie but he decided to let her tag along to Oklahoma to .set with her. Both had secrets they were keeping but felt an attraction. Once in Oklahoma it all starts unraveling but can Justin trust that he can have someone like Phoenix or does his problems out weigh his happiness. Great book and read. Can't wait for next book.
  • This book was emotional! Justin and his mom trying to get over his brother's death and Phoenix finding her birth parents and not sure what to expect. This book also had a lot of good feelings! This was a fast moving book and I am so glad that things worked out for everyone!
  • Okay! Midnight Cowboys! Loved all 3 of them so much! Couldn't help feeling involved with these guys like you knew them well. However, in the story I just finished (Midnight Heat with Justin and Phoenix) I had the impression that there may be another book coming (#4) with Colton still available and Phoenix and Kim coming for a summer visit! I really hope that I'm going down the right road with this thought! Please, Cat, complete this series with a 4th book for Colton and make all these guys happy! (Also your readers!)
    Anything in the works?
  • I believe the third book in the series is the best so far as it has a very involved love story . No spoilers here but interwoven relationships create a subplot about adoption . And hardly wait for book number four as I'm assuming there will be one . Great read and great plot .
  • Need I say more 😉 Cat Johnson is great at this, I was hooked from then beginning and now a have a pretty good idea what's going to get Colton so I can't wait to get the next one to hear his story.
